Healthy Living in 2024 With These Trends

The buzzworthy trends in the wellness world are constantly adapting to the interests of the time in which we are living. Every year, we look back at the past 365 days and reflect on the trends that shaped the wellness world – some simply a passing thought, while others stick around for good. It is up to each individual to discern whether the trend fits their specific needs, but in general, these trends tend to benefit a person’s health. So with the start of a new year, we are all wondering what trends will shape 2024. Here are some current trends that have risen in recent times, and will most likely hold a place in 2024 as having an impact on the wellness world.

What is Habit Stacking and How Can It Elevate Your Day-to-Day Routine?

Have you ever tried to incorporate a new habit into your routine only to fall short after a short period of time? Adopting a new habit can be quite challenging, so how can we successfully adopt these activities that will better our lives? Well, that is where habit stacking comes in.

Habit stacking refers to the idea of adding a new habit onto an already established ritual that you have in your routine. Incorporating this connection between your daily ritual to the new habit will act as a reminder for you to achieve said habit, and eventually it will become familiar to you. For example, if your goal is to incorporate more mindfulness in your day-to-day life, connect this habit to your already established habit of doing your skincare routine. Skin care routines tend to be a restorative process in which you can only really focus on taking care of your skin. Instead of letting your mind dawdle on your to-do’s of the day, practice mindfulness instead during these moments. This can mean listening to a guided meditation or simply clearing your mind.

Habit stacking can be life-changing if you are someone who struggles with independently adding a new activity into your life. It is a great way to stick to those new year resolutions you set out to achieve. Here are some other habit stacking examples to spark inspiration:

  • When I head inside my house, I will change into the clothing for the next activity and put away the clothes I just wore.
  • When I cook dinner, I will make an extra serving to set myself up for healthy eating later on.
  • When I purchase something new, I will get rid of something old.
  • When I make a cup of tea in the evenings, I will journal about my thoughts of the day.

Meal Kits and What It Means for Your Health and Kitchen

Did you get home one day this week and reach for that takeout pamphlet because cooking seemed impossible after the work day you had? We have all been there, and it can be very discouraging – especially to those who are looking to achieve a healthy diet filled with whole foods. This is one of the reasons why meal kits have gained traction recently!

The meal kits vary from business to business, but in general, they are boxes of food that are delivered to your home and contain all the ingredients you need to create healthy meals throughout your week. It is a convenient way to still consume meals at home without the added fuss of deciding what to cook or having to go to the grocery store to collect the miscellaneous ingredients.

Some meal kit businesses even offer kits based on your health goals or your specific diet preferences. This makes it incredibly easy to stick to these diets. While these meal kits do cost money, they tend to save you money in the long run, because you are not overspending at the grocery store on items that maybe will not get used. It is a low food waste activity for the whole family to enjoy!

For those that are wary of receiving healthy, whole ingredients, we recommend researching the meal kit delivery service you are choosing in depth before purchasing. However, in general, these meal kits will offer you the transparency in ingredients and convenience needed in order to successfully be a home cook!

Sports As A Hobby and The Health Benefits of Said Physical Activity

January is the month of getting your life together and shooting towards those new years goals. Exercising regularly is one of the most common new year goals people set out to achieve only to find themselves discouraged after a couple of weeks. However, many have been finding ways out of this slump by incorporating sports into their workout routine!

Sports that are beginner-friendly, solo-friendly, and social boosting are taking the wellness world by storm! Some of these sports include pickleball, tennis, swimming, and running. Adding these sports into your routine is not only beneficial to your physical health, but your mental health as well. They boost social connection and can be a great way to make friends.

It is easy to lose sight of the importance of having hobbies when we are older, but they can be life changing when we dedicate time to them. Connecting to these sports can be a nostalgic experience for many of us and remind us of our youth. There is no reason why engaging in sports needs to be a thing of the past. In fact, the basic pillars to sports have never swayed. They are meant to bring us a boost of serotonin, they are meant to be a way to engage our bodies, and they are meant to foster social connectedness.

If you struggle with making connections in your current life, try joining a local pickleball club or join a swimming class. Let 2024 be the year that you reconnect with those activities from your past or completely discover a new love.
